Sun., March 11, 2007, Hello, Carbondale

After two days of traveling we finally made it home to Carbondale, Illinois. As on the way out, the most eventful part of the trip was near home in southern Illinois. When we arrived last night, Molly helped us adjust her new crib and then slept five hours in it her first night home. This is pretty good considering that she is exchanging days for nights.

Having spent her whole short life in an orphanage, everything she encounters is a first. It has been fun experiencing these with her. We have oddly shaped eyes and we were interesting to look at. In St. Louis yesterday she encountered her first black people, and they were interesting, too. When we arrived home last night she encountered her first dogs and cats. They were both interesting and scary. She is adjusting to her new environment and coming around to the idea that these furry creatures can be trusted.
